Our Story

It started with a label: “Ape.”

As a child, I wore a shirt with a tag "Ape", and someone called me by it. That moment she went on to teach me that what one wears introduces them. From then on, I saw fashion as a voice of self. I started observing tags and how they spoke highly of the individuals wearing them.

People wore brand names and captions that they didn't have anything to do with. I started asking why I should wear a polo with "New York" when I have never been there. What happened to wearing a t-shirt with "Awka" or "Ogbete?" I saw brands telling stories of cities, lifestyles, and cultures. Over here in Nigeria, I saw children imitate popular American rap artists, wearing and fully repping their culture, it was really a trend in the early 2000s.

I asked "But where was our voice—the Igbo voice?"

UgoAfrik was born to answer that—a brand that exists to tell the Igbo story in Fashion language.

We craft apparel that makes cultural statements without traditional attire. We turn everyday fashion into wearable heritage.

Beyond style, UgoAfrik exists to drive impact: funding education, building jobs, and restoring dignity using clothing to gather the needed resources to push the vision.

UgoAfrik was derived from "Ugo" which means "Pride" and "Afrik" a short form for "Africa". We belive that Igbos are the pride of Africa. Yes, we are!

This is UgoAfrik, here, Fashion Speaks Igbo.

Our Goal

We're on a mission to reach 5,000 sales, which will help us raise $50,000 USD. But this isn't just about numbers—it's about impact.

We're dedicating 20% of our profits to fund education for children in the Igbo Regions In Nigeria. Every purchase helps unlock opportunities for young minds who deserve a chance to learn, grow, and thrive. We shall partner with local NGOs, Schools and Teachers to have this accomplished.

The remaining funds will go toward establishing our in-house fashion house in Anambra State, creating jobs and empowering youth in the region. This space will be a hub for creativity, skill development, and economic growth—designed to uplift the community through fashion.
